Why did he have to die? [Jan. 26th, 2007|08:14 am]

I am a huge fan of Scar, and I have the McDonald's figure of him. I watch The Lion King fairly often these days, and I'm still upset by Scar's death. I know it was bound to happen at one point (when he betrayed the hyenas in an attempt to save his skin), but why get rid of the best character right at the end of the first movie. It's not enough to have him appear in a dream and have his name mentioned all these times in Simba's Pride. Also, putting his signature scar on Kovu did not quite cut it either. It's a bit dreary without the voice of Jeremy Irons. Does anyone know where I can read about why they killed off Scar? Thanks.

I think that there will not be an explanation. Unfortunately, as the movie was targeted for little children, they needed to show the classic battle between good&evil. And of course, they need to show how the good side prevails. Thus, the kill our lovely, dear Scar. Anyway, I'll search the web for more info and I'll let you know if I find something.
Jeremy Irons' voice = love, agreed.

Ah, the classic good VS evil thing. That might explain a bit.

I'll have to check if he cameos in TLK 1/2. I watched it, but I don't remember.

I've grown to love the guy because of Scar.
